I’ve had a couple people ask how this build is going. I started working in earnest on this after the semester was over and got it to the point seen below before it got too hot to work in the garage shop (which is after the point when our overnight lows are regularly 80 degrees or higher).

The horn was built from a “kit” of parts from Richard Seraphinoff. He bent the bell and the tuning slide, made various parts that would be turned on a lathe, and provided all the straight and tapered tubing. But otherwise everything you see in terms of assembly I did. As you can tell, the body is done but I only got it to the point of three of the crooks (F, E, and Eb) are assembled roughly and playable (with Eb nearly finished, but still lacking a brace as of now).

In any case here it is! Enjoy. It will probably be October before I get working again seriously to finish out the crooks and the coupler.

UPDATE: See the completed horn here
