As I get going with lessons (I always offer a lesson to students before the semester, to prepare the seating audition music) I have two things to mention.
One is that in the first three lessons yesterday I used the Mirafone Kruspe — and it really feels very nice. Has main horn potential for sure, although I wish the thumb valve throw was a bit different, so that my thumb would not get caught. I may be able to do a modification in the fall.
The other news item is I was practicing and said to myself why not? And I got back out the plastic rims. The idea came to mind as the stainless steel rims were working better than the H-Kote rims, they were less slick — and the Delrin plastic rims are not at all slick. So as of now I’m back on those, kind of enjoying it. Will see how long that lasts.
In any case, the meme below came to mind. On to the semester!
